Maasai Mara - Kenya.
COMBINING STUNNING SCENERY WITH BIG GAME.
There is little that is conventional about the creation of Angama Mara, with views that stretch for miles across the Maasai Mara 300 meters below.
Perched on the edge of the Great Rift Valley, Angama Mara overlooks the lovely Mara Triangle.
The lodge is divided into two adjacent camps of just 15 tented suites each. The tents are all identical, each with wonderful views of the Mara below. Each camp has its own Guest Area and team of hospitality staff.
Between the two camps, and within easy walking distance of all the tents, is the Pavilion. Here guests may enjoy the use of the swimming pool, the Fitness Room, the Photographic Studio, the Safari Shop and the Maasai Beading Studio.
Driving time from the Angama Airfield to the lodge is five minutes but many guests prefer to walk to camp -just a 15 minute stroll. Access from the lodge to the Reserve is a 20 minute drive directly down into all the game viewing action.

SETTING ANGAMA MARA APART:
-
The rare beauty of the site has an emotional effect on visitors – an almost dreamlike quality of being somewhere ‘between heaven and earth’
-
Guests instantly connect with the romance of the setting, where some of the loveliest scenes from the movie Out of Africa were filmed
-
No Tented Suite has the best view, nor the worst – all are spread along the edge of the Rift Valley
-
Decks are for in-room dining and red rocking chair safaris
-
Sleep with the sliding doors open, for the fresh air and sounds of the wild, with meshed doors latched for safety
Luxury Tented Suites:
Architect duo Silvio Rech and Lesley Carstens, and Jan Allan, Kenya’s King of Canvas, designed Angama Mara’s elegant and classical tented suites with an 11-metre wide floor-to-ceiling glass front. Each tent has the same breathtaking view – no one is better than the last – and every day, the sunrise provides guests with early morning theatre as the hot air balloons float gently by.
-
The glass frontage offers views from the bed, the bath, the sitting area, the shower and even the w/c
-
The roof and other three sides are canvas – classic safari olive on the outside and cream on the inside for romance
-
Each tented suite is over 100 sqm, including spacious wooden decks
-
Decks are for in-room dining and red rocking chair safaris
-
Sleep with the sliding doors open, for the fresh air and sounds of the wild, with meshed doors latched for safety

Guest Areas - At A Glance:
-
Essentially one room (33m by 11m) entirely wrapped in stacking glass doors and divided by internal columns, floor level changes and distinctive roof features
-
There is no defined sitting room, dining room or bar – just a charming mix of everything – it’s that kind of place
-
Extensive deck and baraza hanging off the edge of the Rift Valley
-
A dramatic shingle-clad drinks armoire welcomes guests, from where they can be served by their butler or are free to help themselves
General Info:
By night, the softly-lit architecture of the Maasai brick walls and the cone-shaped buildings that float on a lily pond hold guests’ attention. Especially the library, a lovely quiet place and handsome brick-clad oval room, which is perfect for private dining, and complete with WiFi, and a thoughtfully chosen collection of books and films on Africa. The Pavilion is the only common shared area and sits in the heart of the lodge between the two camps.
